As a grassroots organization, SOS works with the support of community to address local needs.
Linda and Connie from the Parksville Quilt House Quilters' Guild stopped by with buckets-full of beautiful handmade stockings and placemats for our Caring for Community at Christmas program. More than 100 quilters volunteered to create these gifts, which will be cherished in many local homes this year. These Christmas treasures will be shared with low-income individuals and families to add comfort and holiday joy to their homes.![]()

The Silver Spur Toy Ride was a whimsical afternoon of festive horses and holiday cheer. This tradition has been going strong for decades and is always a favourite occasion for SOS staff and volunteers.![]()

We loved feeding the horses, sipping hot cocoa and enjoying tasty cookies alongside the riders and their horses. Thank you to the Silver Spur Riding Club for another wonderful year, and to all the horses and riders who make this magical Christmas ride possible.![]()
